What was supposed to be a fun night out with friends for a young Vanderhoof woman turned into a lifetime of anguish for her parents who haven’t stopped searching…
The last time Madison Scott was seen was May 28 2011. She was 20 years old.
Six years have passed, but her parents are still holding onto hope. Crime Stoppers needs your help do you have information that could lead to the whereabouts of Madison Scott?
Madison or Maddy as her friends and family call her attended a party at Hogsback lake- about 25 kilometres south of Vanderhoof, which is not far from Highway 16.
Although, Maddy would have known the partygoers, a number of people showed up later in the night. Some of the party goers would be known to Maddy and her friends and some would not. While most people had left Hogsback Lake when the party ended, Maddy stayed behind in her tent.
Two days later, on Sunday morning, Maddy’s parents found her tent and off-white 1990 Ford F-150 Pickup truck at the camp site. Her tent had been flattened…her purse left inside the truck.
Two items are missing, her keys, which may be on a black gothic theme lanyard and her iPhone. Police believe those items may aid in the investigation.
Maddy is close with her family. Her parents describe her as a beautiful, caring and loving person with a great sense of humour. They’ve offered a reward of up to one-hundred thousand dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her disappearance., Investigators believe that someone knows something

Another year has come and went and no Maddy! It will be the 6th year anniversary of when Maddy went missing so….
On May 27th come out to the 2016 Maddy Poker Ride starting at or near the Mapes Community hall on the Black water road South East of Vanderhoof, near Hogsback lake where Maddy went missing.
Walk, ATV or horse ride on 3 different trails. The cost of the poker hands are 25$. With every 25$ hand purchased you may purchase an additional hand for 10$ while available
Draw cards at the stations along the trails for a chance to win with the best poker hands, $500 for 1st, $300 for 2nd, and $200 for 3rd, and the mystery grand prize. Sponsored by the Vanderhoof Kinettes.
The walking trail starts from the Mapes Community hall then heads East on a trail adjacent to the Blackwater road, down the hogs back road then winds through the forest to Hogsback lake then up on a grassy ridge, along a natural meadow, then back to Mapes Hall. If the complete trail is walked it is around 8 kilometres.
The ATV trail starts at Brian and Diane Ramages approximately 2 kilometres East of Mapes hall on the Blackwater road. The ATV route heads down the Fox forest service road then heads back on the telegraph trail, by Hogsback lake. The trail is of moderate difficulty and is around 40 kilometres.
The horse trail starts from Jody and Jewel Volts, then passes through Mapes pit up into the Sinkut hills and back. The trail is approximately 22 kilometres long.
Directions to Horse start: turn off of highway 16 onto Mapes road, there will be signs on highway, and then stay on Mapes road for 9.9 kms until you get to Goodland road on the left, Jody and jewels is at the end of Goodland road, there will be signs and people directing traffic.

Madison Scott has been missing for five years
. She is described as 5’4″, ginger coloured hair, 
160 pounds with a bird silhouette tattoo on her left inner wrist and a left nostril piercing. She was last seen at Hogback lake on May 27, 2011. It is 25 km South East of Vanderhoof BC. Today is the 5th anniversary of Madison Scott’s disappearance (from My Prince George News)
It’s been 5 years to the day since Madison Scott disappeared while camping with friends at Hogsback Lake near Vanderhoof.
“The investigation is still active and, in the words of Constable Tom Wamsteeker, there’s somebody out there who knows something and they’re just not telling us,” says North District RCMP Corporal Dave Tyreman. “Whether they can’t tell us, won’t tell us. Whether they do it anonymously, whether it’s a letter to the parents or whether they call Crimestoppers – somebody or some people know exactly what happened to Maddy.”
He says the Major Crimes unit is still pursuing information related to Maddy’s disappearance.
“In speaking with Major crimes unit, they believe this to be highly suspicious in nature and that’s why they’re involved. It’s not just somebody who wandered off. It would be nice to find some kind of information that we can further our investigation into where exactly is Madison Scott.”
Tyreman says as time passes, circumstances can change.
“Sometimes it’s a disadvantage, sometimes it can be an advantage. Maybe there’s somebody who knows something and, as years go on, they have a change in lifestyle, they’re not hanging around with the same people. Maybe they’re not at threat by somebody else in providing that information so they may come forward.”
Tyreman says anyone with information is encouraged to come forward. Tips can be made anonymously to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Five Years to the Day – Help us find Madison Scott (from Interior news)
On Saturday, May 28, 2011 every parent’s nightmare became a reality for the Scott family of Vanderhoof.
On Friday, May 27, 2011, 20-year-old Madison Scott attended a party at Hogsback Lake, which is a Forest Service Campsite located approximately 25 kilometers south of Vanderhoof. Maddy parked her white 1990 Ford F150 pick-up truck and pitched her tent nearby as she was camping there with a group of new found friends from Vanderhoof.
The group was celebrating a friendʼs birthday and at the end of the evening, Maddy was left on her own in her tent. Everyone else left the party by 4 a.m.
On May 28, 2011, something happened between 4-8:30 a.m. that led to Maddyʼs disappearance. Foul play is suspected and Maddy remains missing despite a vigorous and in-depth RCMP investigation and ongoing efforts by family and friends.
We know someone out there knows something about the disappearance, but either won’t, or can’t tell us what happened to Maddy. We are asking any individual who has information and has not already come forward to contact the police or Crimestoppers,
stated lead investigator Cst. Tom Wamsteeker of the North District Major Crime Unit.
In support of the on-going investigative efforts, the RCMP are releasing a video that provides a previous re-enactment, private reward and information the public needs to know to help with our investigation.
The Scott family would like to thank the community and RCMP for their continued support in our search for answers regarding the disappearance of Madison Scott.
The Maddy Scott family team will be holding the 5th annual Poker Ride at Hogsback Lake this Saturday and we encourage everyone to come and participate as we continue our search for answers
