Merrit Hearald, Letters to the Editor: MY niece, Madison scott remains missing…

published: April 30, 2012 4:00 PM
Updated: April 30, 2012 4:07 PM

Dear Editor:

Unbelievably, my 20-year-old niece, Madison Scott, remains missing after mysteriously disappearing on Saturday, May 28, 2011, from the Hogsback Lake forestry campsite 25 kilometres south of Vanderhoof, one hour west of Prince George.

She was camping with a group of young people from Vanderhoof who were celebrating a friend’s birthday. Everyone left the party by about 4 a.m., and Maddy was left alone at the campsite. Something happened that led to Maddy’s disappearance. Foul play is suspected.

Maddy remains missing despite a vigorous and in-depth RCMP investigation and ongoing efforts by family and friends. We believe someone knows where she is, but they have not come forward with the truth

. The purpose of this letter is to appeal to all British Columbians and visitors to be watchful for and mindful of anything suspicious as they head into the outdoors as spring and summer approaches. Our family needs everyone’s help.

If anyone has any information that will help bring Madison home to her family, come forward now. If you have information, or were at Hogsback Lake the weekend she went missing and have not yet come forward, please call the Vanderhoof RCMP at 250-567-2222 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Our hearts are shattered by Maddy’s disappearance. Further information, including photos of Maddy, can be found on madisonscott.ca or the Help Find Madison Scott Facebook page. Thank you for helping us to find Maddy and bringing her home where she belongs.

Sincerely and gratefully,

Sandra Kelly Klassen

Whats happening with finding Madison?

While there has not been much information in the media the police are still actively working on the case.  Eldon and Dawn have a good relationship with the RCMP, and report the the RCMP are still actively investigating leads and following up on tasks and information.

The family has put up more large signs through out the interior of BC in the Vanderhoof, Ft. St. James, and Prince George area. There are smaller posters posted in a lot of locations in the area and across B.C. and else where

. Stick on posters small and large are on many vehicles in the Vanderhoof and Prince George areas. The Facebook group has a good following with ongoing  comments and discussions. Lets keep Madison’s disappearance active as much as possible, spread the word to as many people you can, keep posting posters and think of any other ideas to keep this going.

A huge thanks to the incredible number of people and businesses who have given so much time, energy, money, words of support in the quest to find Madison Scott.

I made the following collage for using as a Facebook cover image:

S. K. > … I cried and cried for you ….

I am going to live on the edge and say a few words on Maddy’s wall: Maddy, I was out walking Rudy earlier today and the sun on my face was your treasured smile, the blue sky the promise that you are okay, the lustrous snow the sign that you will be found. I cried and cried for you in the sun under the blue sky and my tears fell, fittingly, into the quad tracks I was following through the field of snow..,reminding me of your love for quading and all things outdoors. I then bought a beautiful spring wreath for the front door to help guide you back to us. I asked for some tiny sunflowers to be added to the spring flowers. Can you feel all this love and pull you have in this family of yours? Please be found, please come home. ♥ MGS ♥

  • T. J. Hugs an Love to all of you. my heart is breaking reading this.. I pray with you too.
  • M. S. again Sandra, you brought tears to my eyes. You would think the shear force of all people praying and wishing she would return would be enough. I know your tears in the tracks will lead her home.
  • T. F. ‎((((Sandra and Family)))) Your lack of posts lately has made my heart break even more for your family, trying to imagine how hard this must be on all of you. It truely is the worst thing that any parent, family member, friend could go through… not knowing, not having answers….. 🙁 There just are no words, nothing that can be said or done that can make this any better for anyone… nothing but the truth coming out! I wish I had the truth and answers to give you all.

J. H. > I was thinking that the lives of Maddy’s loved ones have been caught in a vortex

I was thinking that the lives of Maddy’s loved ones have been caught in a vortex. Spinning round & round & out of control, can’t go forward, can’t go backward. A hint or a tip or a lead comes in & the vortex loosens its grip for a tiny second, light begins to shine in & hope picks up the pace. But it seemingly goes nowhere & the suffocating begins again. To think that someone has the power to release this gigantic hold on the family & is choosing to keep that knowledge locked inside them, is unbelievable. Whoever you are, you are in a vortex also, whether you know it or not. Your vortex will only continue to spin farther & farther into the black depths of hell, until you give up your knowledge. The family have each other, who do you have? Demons & devils, that’s what you have. Give it up already & make it right. Make the pain go away, yours & theirs’.

  • J. B. I wasn’t feeling very benevolent this morning when I wrote that.
  • J. B. Tina, did you delete your comment?
  • T. J. ya.. felt bad that I interupted yours.. not my place.
  • J. B. Not to worry
  • J. B. You had a point.
  • T. J. that’s ok.. so did you.
